CHESS PRACTICES START THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 16th!
8 to 18 CHESS DEADLINE- MUST BE SIGNED UP BY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25!
Chess is for everyone no matter what your skill level. Mr. Black and Mrs. Segler are your middle school chess coaches. You will be required to play Lichess every Wednesday at home. It can be a different date but must be played by the following week. We will set a schedule of who you need to play and it is up to you to play 3 times and email Mr. Black the results.
WHEN: DMS - Mondays- 3:30 - 5:00
DVMS - Thursdays 3:30 - 5:00
EVERYONE - Wednesdays (Lichess from home)
WE WILL ALWAYS BE DONE AT 5:00 SO HAVE YOUR RIDES PLANNED TO BE ON TIME. IF YOUR RIDE IS LATE 2 TIMES, WE WILL TALK TO PARENTS. YOU CAN BE REMOVED FROM CHESS FOR CHRONIC LATENESS.
WHERE: DMS - Commons
DVMS - Town Center
TOURNAMENTS: - We will send an email home for each tournament. We will always leave and return from Dunlap Middle School.
Morton - Saturday, November 4th - We must know by Thursday, October 26
Brimfield - Saturday, December 2nd - We must know by Thursday, November 23
Dunlap (DMS and DVMS only)- Saturday, February 3- We must know by Thursday, January 25
STATE - February 23rd and 24th - We are allowed to take up to 10 players from each grade, but please understand that we do not HAVE to take 10. We will assess 3 factors (rating, tournament attendance and weekly attendance) when deciding who attends state for us.
NOTATION BOOKS- Every player is required to have a chess notation book if you attend tournaments. . Players can bring their own, or a book can be purchased from us for $3.00.
